Single Travellers

Safari is a wonderfully rewarding holiday for anyone wanting to travel alone. Whether you want to join a small group of like minded travellers in Africa or have a tailor-made safari itinerary planned just for you, there are literally hundreds of possibilities. In fact of all the trips we organise, it’s probably only self drive itineraries we wouldn’t recommend to a solo traveller.
All of us at Aardvark Safaris travel by ourselves from time to time and can speak from experience when it comes to planning African holidays for single travellers.
Small group safaris for single travellers
If you are looking for company when you holiday in Africa then one of the best things to consider is to join a small group, of typically no more than eight people. These safaris operate on frequent departure dates throughout the year and vary in length, style and types of activity.
We’ve listed some of our favourite set departure safaris in the box below.
Tailor made safaris for single travellers
If group travel doesn’t appeal then we can plan a safari holiday specifically for you. The majority of the camps and lodges we use are small and have an atmosphere akin to that of a sociable, informal dinner party. We find that wildlife sightings of the day are excellent ice breakers to kick off conversations and single guests feel very much involved in camp life.
Single supplements
Where possible we will make use of camps and trips that don’t charge single supplements. We can guide you towards particular times of year when single supplements are reduced or will do our best to negotiate these down on your behalf.
Safety
On all of our itineraries, whether you are joining a group or travelling on a tailor made itinerary, you will be met at every stage of your journey, starting with your arrival in Africa. In most instances, it’s not until you reach your departure airport that you are on your own again.
