A Namibia Riding Safari – A Personal View

Desert Homestead, Sossusvlei, Namibia Riding through the wide, empty plains that surround Desert Homestead is quite unlike anything I’ve ever done before and I’d be surprised to find another ride that matches the experience of cantering across seemingly endless expanses of countryside.

There were just three of us on my sunset ride - the guide, another guest and me - and it felt as though we had the whole of Namibia to ourselves. We rode for several hours on fun horses stopping on top of a rocky hill for a sun downer, finally returning to the lodge around dusk. You may not see tons of game but the sheer space and stunning surroundings more than makes up for that - it truly is a wonderful place to ride.
