African safaris from Aardvark

The Ultimate Safari Solution

With over twenty years' experience planning safaris, plus time spent living in Africa, we will marry our expertise with your wishes to create the perfect African safari.

Our approach at Aardvark Safaris is to listen to your desires rather than to impose our own ideas allowing you to create your dream African safari holiday.

Honeymoon Safaris and Small Private Groups

We arrange honeymoons all over Africa. We appreciate that this is the most important holiday you are likely to plan and that expectations are high.

Family safaris in Africa and family holidays to the Indian Ocean and Madagascar are becoming increasingly popular. We have lots of African family holiday ideas and the knowledge and experience to plan a great family safari holiday whatever the age of your children.

We create ‘Quality Holidays Honestly Priced’.  See what we mean by this on our Aardvark Guarantee page and see if our clients agree on our Testimonials page.

From Kenya to South Africa and beyond we have been there. During our many African safaris we have walked with the Masai guides in the Masai Mara and with Robin Pope in the South Luangwa, eaten the food in top Cape Town restaurants or cooked over the fire on a mobile safari in the Okavango Delta, and slept on the 'star beds' at Loisaba, in a tree house at Jaci's Camp and under the stars at Sand Rivers. Whether you are an individual, couple, family or a group, we can help you plan your safari holiday and ensure that you enjoy the real Africa with absolute confidence and security.

Visit the lowland gorillas in the Republic of Congo on a safari hosted by Aardvark Safaris’ Alice Gully
Alice is heading to the Republic of Congo (as seen on the BBC Africa series and not to be confused with the DRC) to track the western lowland gorillas in one of the world’s last undeveloped wilderness regions.

Although a new destination to Aardvark, the operation is run on the ground by Wilderness Safaris with whom we’ve been working for many years. The gorillas are the main draw but it’s also exciting chance for intrepid travellers to glimpse rainforest wildlife, and species like dwarf forest buffalo, okapi and bongo not seen on our more traditional safaris.

Alice is a co-owner of Aardvark and has 15 years of African travel experience; add to this her zoology degree and unflappable personality and you will have the perfect host on this unique trip. The six night itinerary starts on Thursday 23rd May and ends on Wednesday 29th May 2013.

Please contact Alice at alice@aardvarksafaris.com if you would like to book or for more details. For the full itinerary please click here.

Wonderful Cape combination itinerary offer
We get a fair number of ‘special offers’ into the office each week and most seem to have a catch somewhere, but this one making use of some of our favourite properties in South Africa’s lovely Cape region really caught our eye: Stay at three outstanding properties in South Africa’s Western and Eastern Cape for eleven nights and pay for only eight nights, while children under twelve stay for free. Combine Le Quartier Francais, which offers an unequalled gourmet and wine experience in the pretty town of Franschhoek, with Kurland, a glorious luxury boutique hotel on the Garden Route within a stone’s throw of secluded beaches, and Kwandwe where extensive wildlife roams freely within a 54,000 acre private reserve. With sophisticated, flexible accommodation and a variety of activities, this wonderful itinerary has wide ranging appeal, from honeymooners and couples through to family travellers.

New camp and awards for the Rekero team
Naboisho Camp - from the same stable as Rekero which is one of our Kenyan favourites – opens its doors for the first time on 1st June. Visitors will have the chance to explore a pristine part of the Masai Mara eco-system in the company some great guides, including BBC presenter Jackson Looseyia. Not to be outshone by the new opening, Rekero Camp recently received the Good Safari Guide Award for the ‘Best Guiding Team in Africa’. Coming hot on the heels of the release of Disney’s new movie ‘African Cats’ which was filmed on Rekero’s doorstep we feel that Rekero and Naboisho (who now have some of those award winning guides) will continue to experience something really special.

Ultimate Island Getaway
North Island provides the remote exclusive island experience that many of us imagine when picturing the archetypal idyllic desert island: Long, white powder sand beaches, crystal clear waters - perfect for diving and fishing, exquisite fresh sea food and luxuriously crafted villas. Uninhabited for over 30 years, investors have now turned it into a sanctuary for both discerning travellers and wildlife with the reintroduction of many endemic plant and animal species.

  Villa on North Island, Seychelles

Each of the huge, two-bedroom, butler-serviced villas has indoor and outdoor showers, a staggeringly large bathroom, and floor-to-ceiling windows opening on to decks with a private gazebo and plunge pool. An electric golf buggy allows guests to nip around the sandy tracks to one of the four beaches. There is an excellent spa, two further central pools, top of the range dive school, two restaurants, and boats equipped for deep sea fishing. In short, North Island really does live up to its reputation as the ultimate private island luxury.

In search of an exciting challenge last Spring, Victoria decided to set herself the task of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, which at just under 6,000 metres (20,000 feet) is Africa's highest peak. After several months training, she set off in September on what proved to be both an exhausting yet wonderfully fulfilling journey.

Charlotte Opperman has two active boys and a husband, Peter, who loves fishing. The whole family enjoyed their Kenya safari over Christmas.

The holiday included game drives at Rekero Camp in the Masai Mara and camel and horse riding as well as walks and river swims at Ol Malo in Laikipia. The family safari ended on the beach at Manda Bay where Peter disappeared saltwater fishing, the boys enjoyed watersports and Charlotte relaxed with a book.

We plan a lot of honeymoon safaris in Africa and love a challenge. A recent enquiry saw us come up with lots of African honeymoon ideas and then plan a long honeymoon safari to Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

Tongabezi Lodge, close to the magnificent Victoria Falls in Zambia and Xakanaxa in the Botswana's game rich Okavango Delta were just two stops on this incredible holiday which ended with a few nights on the beach at Rocktail Bay on the Indian Ocean coast of South Africa.

Alice has done a lot of riding in Africa whilst Charlotte has ridden with her family while on holiday at Ant’s Nest in the malaria-free safari area of Waterberg in South Africa and Ol Malo in the Laikipia region of Kenya.

These two riding fanatics are backed up by John who, although a little rusty on a horse, has enjoyed riding safaris in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Kenya and Malawi
