Serian
Serian, meaning peaceful or serene in the Maa language of the Masai people, is a small owner run camp situated along the side of a secluded valley flanking the Mara River. The camp is the bush home of Alex Walker, a professional filmmaker and guide in the Masai Mara. The adjacent area is teeming with wildlife and is excellent for both walking and vehicle based game viewing.
Accommodation & Facilities
Accommodation is in eight large, airy and elegant tents which are set in the shade of large Oleadendra & Walburgia trees. Each tent has an en-suite open sided bush bathroom with a shower, large bush bathtub, a flush loo and spectacular views over the Mara River. Each tent is elegantly and stylishly furnished with African arts and has a wooden deck outside, perfect or relaxing after game viewing activities. There is also a communal dining and sitting/reading area and indoor fireplace.
Wildlife & Activities
Activities on offer include game drives (guests have the use of a private vehicle and guide for the duration of their stay), guided bush walks and hikes to the Tree-house. There is also the opportunity to sleep and eat under the stars at the nearby ‘fly camp’. For those wishing to sample another area of the Masai Mara, there is also Serian’s mobile camp which moves location to take best advantage of game movements. The camp can accommodate up to ten guests.
