Charlie arranged the most brilliant holiday for us, incorporating a riding safari, game viewing by vehicle and a stop at the most glorious beach. We couldn’t have asked for better and every detail was perfect.

Charlie, who joined the Scottish Office in February 2010 and moved to the US office in August 2013, has two great passions: riding and travelling. Fortunately Aardvark Safaris provides ample opportunity to be an expert in both. During a gap year in Argentina and Australia he worked on polo ranches training young horses, and since then he's played polo all over the world, often representing Scotland in international matches. Following university he worked in Botswana’s Okavango Delta with African Horseback Safaris, bringing on young horses.
Aside from riding and travelling, Charlie is a keen photographer who loves to ski, cook and support Newcastle United Football Club. With his good knowledge of horses and having ridden in Botswana, South Africa, Kenya and Namibia, Charlie is a great person to talk to about riding safaris in Africa. He has also travelled extensively around Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Namibia and would love to chat about these amazing countries.
A flying safari up Namibia’s Skeleton Coast with Andre Schoeman of Skeleton Coast Safaris is one of the greatest adventures I have ever had. Simply mind blowing, never have I felt so free.
Leopard – They are the most beautiful, powerful and elusive creatures. I have seen many leopard on my travels and they still make my heart beat a little bit faster especially from horseback.
Favourite three camps
African Horseback Safaris is sort of a second home, Kunene Camp in Northern Namibia (one of the Schoeman Brothers' remote camps) for its stunning location and remoteness, Ol Donyo Lodge in the Chyulu Hills for its incredible views of Kilimanjaro and supreme comfort.

On arranging holidays
When planning your perfect safari holiday, you want to speak to someone you can trust. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than organising a safari holiday that I know someone is going to love, because at Aardvark we take the time to understand your requirements and build it into your perfect custom itinerary. What makes the perfect safari holiday? This completely depends on the individual. It could be racing across the Namib Desert on horseback, camping out under the stars or sipping G&T from your private plunge pool while watching elephants drink at the waterhole as the sun slips over Kilimanjaro on the horizon.
